The conference Applications of radiation detection techniques in fundamental physics, food control, medicine and biology will take place from May 8th to 12th at Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (LNF - INFN), Italy.

The main purpose of the conference is to exchange experience and expertise gained by various institutions in the fields of radiation detection techniques developed for fundamental physics, food control, medical diagnostics and biology. The conference will be a showcase for forefront experimental as well as theoretical developments, where the interplay between outstanding research and innovative concepts on the borderline between physics, medicine and biology will be promoted.

The conference is organized with the support of the INFN-LNF, Jagiellonian University in Cracow and Center for Theranostics, Poland.

The conference will be held in person. The selected contributions will be published as open-access articles in Bio-Algorithms and Med-Systems https://sciendo.com/issue/BIOAL/18/1

We invite the GATE community to participate to our scientific meeting. The meeting will cover scientific challenges in PET, SPECT, CT imaging as well as internal and external radiation therapy.

The meeting will be held in person in Kraków, Poland, on two different sites: the FAIS campus of the Jagiellonian University, and the Center for Theranostics. You can find more information about the venue on the related page.

10th - 15th July 2022

4th Jagiellonian Symposium on Advances in Particle Physics and Medicine is organised by the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. The conference will take place July 10 – 15, 2022 in Collegium Maius, the oldest building of the University founded in XIV century as well as in the just opened Theranostics Center.
 
Following the success of three meetings organised in 2015, 2017 and 2019, this event is a continuation to once again bring together scientists from physics, nuclear medicine and healthcare.
 
One of the main purposes of the Jagiellonian Symposium is to exchange experience and expertise gained by various institutions in the fields of nuclear and particle physics, medical imaging, radiotherapy and diagnostics. The symposium will be a showcase for forefront experimental as well as theoretical developments, where the interplay between outstanding research and innovative concepts on the borderline between basic and applied science will be promoted.
 
The scientific scope cover the following fields:

9th - 11th October 2021

Scientific conference 1st Symposium on Theranostics will take place on 9 – 11 October 2021 at the newly established "Theranostics Center” in Kopernika 40 St. in Kraków, Poland. The conference will bring together physicists and medical specialists devoted to the development of medical diagnostic and treatment methods. The main purpose of the 1st Symposium on Theranostics is to exchange knowledge and experience from various institutions in the field of applied and fundamental nuclear physics, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, materials science, medical imaging, radiotherapy and healthcare.

1st Symposium on Theranostics will have hybrid form. The conference will be held stationary and, additionally, remote participation will be possible.

Theranostics, which will be one of the main topics of the conference, represents a new approach to medicine aimed at creating new technological solutions enabling the simultaneous detection and treatment of diseases. Theranostics as diagnostics and therapy at the molecular level is the basis of modern personalized medicine.

Positron Emission Tomography, PET, is currently the most technologically advanced method of diagnosis in oncology, neurology, cardiology, as well as in psychiatry and gastrology. It enables the detection and localization of very early stages of cancer, imaging of the circulatory and nervous systems in the patient. An innovative on a global scale contribution to the development of medical diagnostics is the PET scanner with a field of view on the patient's entire body, developed at the Jagiellonian University. Total-body Jagiellonian-PET, TB-J-PET, will enable imaging of the whole body of the patient at the same time, significantly increasing the diagnostic possibilities. The conference will present the latest results of research and development on the way to the construction of this novel device.
