Field: Information and communication technology with regard to applications of computing technologies and/or Artificial Intelligence

Preferred research topics:

• the use of artificial intelligence methods in computer-aided design and knowledge processing,
• methods of intelligent data mining and knowledge modeling in intelligent systems,
• programming graphics cards with particular emphasis on RTX technology,
• Monte-Carlo simulations based on neural networks,
• programming of FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) for acceleration of calculations and data processing in real-time systems.

We are looking for candidates who obtained their doctoral degree at other institution than the Jagiellonian University.

An ideal candidate should in particular:

• have relevant scientific achievements in the form of publications in years 2014-2021 in reputable journals or reputable CORE-ranked conferences;
• actively take part in academic life, in particular by presenting their research at international conferences and symposia,
• have a track record of interdisciplinary scientific research or cooperation with socio-economic environment,
• have organisational experience, in particular a track record of participating in or obtaining external, competitive research funding,
• have experience in or currently participate in academic collaboration with leading research institutions,
• have experience in popularising their research or innovative education,
• have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

A successful candidate will:

• publish articles in leading journals or at CORE-ranked conferences,
• submit at least one grant proposal affiliated at JU within 24 months,
• engage in interdisciplinary research with other members of the JU academic community,
• deliver innovative teaching.

Additional information regarding rules of employment:

• Assistant Professor:
  • fixed-term contract for 30 months,
  • maximal full-time salary  75,000-100,000 PLN gross (the salary comprises base remuneration and pay enhancement connected to the grant and includes all components of remuneration pursuant to Regulations on Remuneration Payment at the Jagiellonian University),
  • based on research proposal and an estimate of expenditure we plan to award a research grant of about 50,000 PLN to be realised for a 30-month period – within terms and conditions of a separate agreement (eligible costs include research trips and visits, research equipment, consumable materials, external services and remuneration for the project team)
  • teaching load is negotiable in accordance with the Work Regulations of the Jagiellonian University.
