A PCR chamber: qLIFE PRA
The Chair of Physiology, JU Medical College, has operated a new chamber for contamination-free DNA sequencing (a PCR chamber).
The device is used in molecular biology research and it helps significantly reduce the risk for genetic material to be contaminated by external factors. The chamber is equipped with a UVC lamp, which ensures decontamination of the chamber’s interior, and a white-light lamp, which ensures that the working surface is adequately lit.
The chamber will be used for all activities related to polymerase chain reaction – PCR (a method of multiplying DNA fragments of interest) and DNA/RNA isolation and DNA editing, carried out under projects by the research group GaMEG Lab at the Laboratory of Cell Engineering and Isotopic Analysis (Pracownia Inżynierii Komórkowej i Diagnostyki Izotopowej).
The purchase of equipment has been financed from the funds of the Priority Research Area qLife under the strategic programme Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University.
