An on-line course: ‘Humans and Society in the Face of New Technologies’
You are warmly welcome to a free on-line course ‘Humans and Society in the Face of New Technologies’ available on the Copernicus College platform.
The technologies and media we often refer to as ‘new’ have long had an impact on our everyday lives. Every year brings us new technological opportunities and challenges. But it is only recently that we have started to ask questions about their long-term consequences.
With a view to grasp the changes, the chances they offer and threats they raise, we have designed a course at which we will tackle the following topics:
- Interactions between humans and new technologies (Agneiszka Całek)
- AI as seen from an ethical and legal perspective (Michała Araszkiewicz)
- Privacy protection in the age of new technologies (Agata Cebera, Jakub Firlus)
- Cybercrime, cyberwar (Błażej Sajduk)
- E-democracy (Maksymilian Galon)
- Social media (Aleksandra Powierska)
- Smart city (Katarzyna Gorczyca)
- Industry 4.0 (Krzysztof Gwosdz)
The course has been developed by the Priority Research Area FutureSoc under the programme Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University.
Copernicus College is an entirely free MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses) platform, with courses in, among others, physics, psychology, law or mathematics. Everyone may enrol, regardless of education and age. The only step required is to sign up with an email address.
