SocietyNow! #1 competition
Program aimed at carrying out expert activity and scientific research, as well as educational and promotional initiatives, in the area of the analysis of social effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dear All!
Within the framework of the Excellence Initiative – Research University program, we now launch SocietyNow! – competition #1, chiefly aimed at expert activity and scientific research in the area of the analysis of social effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We invite proposals for mini projects aimed at preparing analyses and recommendations, as well as developing projects for further scientific research and expert activities related to the broadly understood social consequences of the current epidemiological crisis. In particular, we welcome submissions in the following three subject areas:
(1) Economic and social policy instruments in the context of epidemics and other emergencies; their legal and political dimensions. Evaluation of the Polish government’s economic support measures (“anti-crisis shield”), current recommendations and system-oriented conclusions.
(2) Between safety and liberty. Legal, economic, social and psychological aspects of terminating the "national quarantine": scenarios, mechanisms, instruments, risks.
(3) Social communication in a crisis situation, as exemplified in the current state of pandemic: analysis and recommendations.
The proposed projects should be interdisciplinary, not necessarily limited to social sciences. The applications should include: (1) a brief description, (2) justification of the aims, (3) significance of the project, (4) composition of the project team, (5) expected results, (6) proposed budget. The applications should not exceed 5,000 characters in length.
Each project can receive funding of up to PLN 15,000, which can be used for any project-related activities, including additional remuneration. The projects should be designed so as to enable obtaining at least partial results (reports, analyses, plans for further research, recommendations) by the end of May 2020.
Successful project proposals will be selected by a team of experts appointed by the Head of the Coordinating Team of the Excellence Initiative – Research University program.
