Modernisation of laboratories in the Chair of Organic Chemistry
The Chair of Organic Chemistry of the Faculty of Pharmacy at JU MC has received funding in the framework of the Strategic Programme Excellence Initiative in Jagiellonian University (ID.UJ) - Priority Research Area "Better Research for Better Quality of Life - qIFE" for the modernisation of chemical synthesis laboratories.
Fume hoods are a key element of the equipment in the rooms, ensuring safety - by removing vapours from the work chamber - when working with hazardous and toxic substances. A significant advantage of the installed fume hoods are ventilated under-counter cabinets enabling storage of reagents. Additionally, two laboratories have been equipped with fireproof cabinets for storing flammable organic solvents.
The laboratories are equipped with island bench made of solvent-resistant materials and fitted with fume hoods to extract substance vapours during work. Cabinets for storing laboratory materials are placed under each bench. Each bench is connected to a sink made of phenolic resin. Cabinets for storing small equipment and laboratory materials are an additional element of the laboratory equipment.
The purchase of chemical fume hoods and laboratory furniture as well as the modernisation works carried out allowed to ensure safe working conditions and to adapt the laboratories to the needs of a modern synthetic laboratory.
Purchase of the eqipment was made with funding from the qLIFE Priority Research Area within the framework of the Strategic Programme “Excellence Initiative” at Jagiellonian University.
