Veterinary biochemistry analyzer supports work of the Department of Toxicology – qLIFE PRA
The Fuji DRI-CHEM NX 500 veterinary biochemistry analyzer, the purchase of which was funded by the qLIFE Priority Research Area under the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" programme at Jagiellonian University, is used in the Facility and Department of Toxicology at the Faculty of Pharmacy at JU MC in research on new drugs. In particular, it is useful for assessing the toxicokinetics and safety of new compounds with proven biological activity, which proceed to further stages of preclinical studies using alternative in vivo methods.
The Fuji DRI-CHEM NX 500 biochemistry analyzer is a state-of-the-art instrument that can measure 22 clinical chemistry parameters (ALB, ALP, AMYL, BIL, BUN, CA, CK, CREA, GGT, GLU, GOT/AST, GPT/ALT, IP, LDH, LIP; MG, NH3, TCHO, TG, TP, UA, cCRP) and electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride) in plasma and serum of species such as dog, cat, rabbit, horse, cattle, ferret, guinea pig, rat, mouse, pig, sheep, goat, grey parrot, bearded agama, iguana, turtle, boa constrictor, with the possibility of introducing an additional 7 species. The instrument is based on colorimetric plate technology with a multilayer filter system to minimize interference with hemolysis, lipemic or jaundice samples. The instrument is also equipped with potentiometric plates with ion-selective electrodes for Na, K and Cl.
The purchase was made with funding from the qLIFE Priority Research Area within the framework of the Strategic Programme “Excellence Initiative” at Jagiellonian University.
