Seminars: Digiworld preLAB presentations
Thursday 8 April 2021, 2 p.m. GMT+1 is the time of another DigiWorld PRA seminar to present the NATE preLAB.
PreLAB: Neutron Activation Technologies Pre-Lab
Speaker: dr Michał Silarski
Title: NATE Lab: Neutron activation technologies for the benefit of humans.
Abstract:
Nowadays, at a time of a growing threat of terrorist attacks, a search for effective methods of detection and neutralization of hazardous materials becomes particularly important not only in terms of protecting the population but also protecting the natural environment. Presented at the lecture will be methods of stoichiometry developed at the JU Institute of Physics allowing for non-invasive analysis of the investigated substance based on neutron activation techniques. The methods will also be used in the implementation of boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) in Poland.
Dr Michał Silarski is associate professor in the Department of Experimental Particle Physics and its Applications at the JU Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science. He investigates fundamental symmetries in particle physics and searches for types of exotic matter. His research interests include also the uses of nuclear physics in medicine and in public security.
