Open positions in DigiWorld PRA
The DigiWorld Priority Research Area announces a competitive selection process for the posts of Assistant Professors in the research and faculty staff member group in academic disciplines: socio-economic geography and spatial management and Earth and related environmental sciences in two research domains (see PRA Description tab at https://id.uj.edu.pl/digiworld): Advanced computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI in exact and natural sciences.
Below we list the open competition calls together with a brief description and links to detailed information in Polish and English:

Discipline: socio-economic geography and spatial management
Field: advanced computational or artificial intelligence (AI) methods in studying socio-economic or cultural spatial phenomena

Field: advanced computational or artificial intelligence (AI) methods for analyzing environmental spatial data, including Earth observation data

We are looking for candidates holding at least a doctoral degree and who in the 2 years before the opening date of the competitive selection process were not employed under an employment contract at the Jagiellonian University.
An ideal candidate should in particular:
-
have relevant scientific achievements in the form of publications in years 2014-2020 in reputable journals or reputable CORE-ranked conferences;
-
actively take part in academic life, in particular by presenting their research at international conferences and symposia,
-
have a track record of interdisciplinary scientific research or cooperation with socio-economic environment,
-
have organisational experience, in particular a track record of participating in or obtaining external, competitive research funding,
-
have experience in or currently participate in academic collaboration with leading research institutions,
-
have experience in popularising their research or innovative education,
-
have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
A successful candidate will:
-
publish articles in leading journals or at CORE-ranked conferences,
-
submit at least one grant proposal affiliated at JU within 24 months,
-
engage in interdisciplinary research with other members of the JU academic community,
-
deliver 30 hours of innovative teaching per academic year.
Additional information regarding rules of employment:
Assistant Professor:
-
fixed-term contract for 30 months,
-
maximal full-time salary 75,000-100,000 PLN gross for the period of running a research project granted within terms and conditions of a separate agreement (the salary comprises base remuneration and pay enhancement connected to the grant and includes all components of remuneration pursuant to Regulations on Remuneration Payment at the Jagiellonian University),
-
based on research proposal and an estimate of expenditure we plan to award a research grant of about 50,000 PLN to be realised for a 30-month period – within terms and conditions of a separate agreement (eligible costs include research trips and visits, research equipment, consumable materials, external services and remuneration for the project team).
