Field: advanced computational or artificial intelligence (AI) methods in studying socio-economic or cultural spatial phenomena

• a post of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Geography and Geology 

We are looking for candidates holding at least a doctoral degree and who in the 2 years before the opening date of the competitive selection process were not employed under an employment contract at the Jagiellonian University. 

An ideal candidate should in particular: 

• have relevant scientific achievements in the form of publications in years 2014-2020 in reputable journals or reputable CORE-ranked conferences; 

• actively take part in academic life, in particular by presenting their research at international conferences and symposia, 

• have a track record of interdisciplinary scientific research or cooperation with socio-economic environment, 

• have organisational experience, in particular a track record of participating in or obtaining external, competitive research funding,  

• have experience in or currently participate in academic collaboration with leading research institutions, 

• have experience in popularising their research or innovative education,  

• have excellent written and oral communication skills in English. 

A successful candidate will: 

• publish articles in leading journals or at CORE-ranked conferences, 

• submit at least one grant proposal affiliated at JU within 24 months, 

• engage in interdisciplinary research with other members of the JU academic community, 

• deliver 30 hours of innovative teaching per academic year. 

Additional information regarding rules of employment: 

Assistant Professor: 

• fixed-term contract for 30 months, 

• maximal full-time salary  75,000-100,000 PLN gross for the period of running a research project granted within terms and conditions of a separate agreement (the salary comprises base remuneration and pay enhancement connected to the grant and includes all components of remuneration pursuant to Regulations on Remuneration Payment at the Jagiellonian University), 

• based on research proposal and an estimate of expenditure we plan to award a research grant of about 50,000 PLN to be realised for a 30-month period – within terms and conditions of a separate agreement (eligible costs include research trips and visits, research equipment, consumable materials, external services and remuneration for the project team).
