Funding of journals based on open access model (first edition)

The Heritage PRA announces a call for: Funding of journals based on open access model (first edition). It is financed under the "open access" action for the implementation of projects related to research areas defined in the

Heritage PRA Strategy (to find out more go to the “Strategy 2020 - 2025” tab on the website: https://id.uj.edu.pl/heritage) and for the dissemination of results.

In this funding opportunity we welcome submissions in the field of humanities and social sciences.

Applicants:

The call is addressed to editors-in-chief of journals published by the Jagiellonian University.

Objectives of the call:

The competition aims at supporting the process of improving the international standing of the journal, in particular:

- linguistic verification and proofreading of articles written in a foreign language, as well as abstracts of articles and metadata, the website's content and editorial office’s communications with foreign entities;

- purchasing of software used to manage editorial and publishing work or licenses for such software;

- purchasing of anti-plagiarism software or purchasing of anti-plagiarism software's licenses;

- creating a dedicated website for the journal, implementing changes to the existing one, or maintaining the website’s current functionality;

- purchasing of Digital Object Identifiers (DOI);

- international promotion of the journal.

Terms of entry:

The funding may be awarded to a scientific journal published by the Jagiellonian University, which:

- is indexed in the international abstract and citation database Scopus;

- publishes articles in foreign languages appropriate for a given scientific discipline

- accepts and follows the rules of publication ethics in accordance with the guidelines of the COPE - Committee on Publication Ethics;

- includes the dissemination of scientific articles in the open access mode on the Internet without financial, technological and legal barriers (the "Gold" OA model) and uses the double-blind peer review process;

- remains in line with the objectives of the EI.JU strategic program and the Heritage PRA Strategy.

Among the members of the editorial and scientific board and the team of reviewers of the journal applying for a funding at least half should be representatives of foreign academic institutions. A journal that does not meet this condition may still be funded, albeit only in justified circumstances.

To qualify, projects must have a implementation time of 12 or 24 months.

The overall funding allocated in the competition amounts to PLN 175,000.

The maximum amount of funding for one application is PLN 25,000 for one-year projects and PLN 50,000 for two-year projects.

Deadline and process of submitting applications:

Applications can be submitted from 1 January to 15 January 2021. Kindly note that we accept only applications sent to the email address: pobheritage@uj.edu.pl.

The results of the call (ranking list of qualified projects) will be announced on the PRA website within 4 weeks of the deadline for applications.

The competition committee awards the proposal with points in the range of 0-100, for:

  1. validity of the planned actions and linking them with the concept of the development of the journal's publishing and editorial practices affecting the journal's internationalization (0-70 points)
  2. consistence of the planned expenses with the eligible costs and the validity of their amount (0-30 points).

Applications that failed to score 50% of the points available in each category will not be funded.
