The specifics of the Anthropocene require integrated initiatives aimed at understanding the current changes in the anthroposphere, biosphere and geosphere, i.e. the Earth system. This increasingly applies also to processes related to the impact of the anthroposphere expanding beyond our planet. Without an accurate diagnosis of causes and potential results of these changes and processes, it is impossible to propose effective solutions. The policy of sustainable development, adaptation and protection, which requires technologically advanced solutions, must be under the charge of responsible experts, aware of the cause-effect chain at the interface of the anthropo-, bio- and geosphere and outer space.

Therefore, the aim of the Anthropocene PRA is to break down barriers between research disciplines or fields, to facilitate the emergence at the university of a community of experts who would offer a knowledge-based response to the issue of responsible climate, environmental, energy, social or space policies, taking into account the functional complexity of the Earth system and the processes related to the expansion of the human species into outer space.

Another mission of the PRA is to transfer this knowledge to the society and the economic environment, to make sure that awareness of the effects of decisions taken at various levels results from knowledge of the threats of the Anthropocene. This mission will be pursued, i.a., by educating students and doctoral students in hyper-interdisciplinary programs on the Anthropocene.

A comprehensive information campaign is also planned, addressed to the non-academic community, including school students and local self-governments and authorities. We also intend to work together with NGOs, providing them with expert knowledge.

The Anthropocene PRA should constitute a space for innovative social practices and implementation programs responding to urgent problems of local and global communities.

Thus, the Anthropocene PRA is a genuine response of the scientific community to global problems, which also concern each of us individually. It fully complies with the 4*I principle (internationalization, interdisciplinarity, innovation and integration).
