‘Young Labs’ (YL) in the Anthropocene PRA

The call is addressed to persons employed at the Jagiellonian University who have held a doctoral degree for up to 9 years. It is launched under action 17: the Young Labs programme under the Strategic Programme Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University.

The call seeks to offer financial support to actions by young researchers aimed at launching a research collaboration and founding their first research team (‘My First Lab, MFL’), or consolidation or extension of a collaboration (‘My Advanced Lab, MAL’) and doing research in thus founded teams in the Anthropocene PRA thematic areas.

Submitted in the call may be only research projects addressing at least one of the three research domains named in the Anthropocene PRA strategy, fulfilling the obligatory criteria of interdisciplinarity and internationalisation (the 4*I principle of the EI.JU programme), and related to at least one of the disciplines defined for the Anthropocene PRA (https://anthropocene.id.uj.edu.pl/en_GB/strategia).

Prospective entrants are researchers employed by the JU who hold a doctoral degree awarded no earlier than February 2017 (MFL) or awarded between February 2021 and January 2017 (MAL), to be counted in the N number in one of the research disciplines defined for the Anthropocene PRA (https://anthropocene.id.uj.edu.pl/en_GB/strategia).

The projects recommended for implementation may be carried out over 24 or 30 months (MFL), or 12 or 24 months (MAL).

The overall funding allocated to the MFL and MAL projects in the call’s first edition amounts PLN 5,000,000.

The maximum amount of funding per proposal is PLN 200,000 (including salary surcharges).

Salaries in the projects:

  • for project manager: PLN 1,500 gross / month ( PLN 1,794.60 gross + surcharge / month)
  • for investigators: PLN 1,200 gross (+ surcharges if applicable).

Disbursement of the funding awarded for the implementation of the projects recommended for funding should be planned as starting from 15 September 2021.

[IMPORTANT NOTE]: before submitting the proposal, the applicant should consult the cost estimate in terms of formal eligibility with an EI.JU office employee: Ms Anna Anioł-Mazurek (anna.aniol-mazurek@uj.edu.pl) or Mr Bartłomiej Konecko (bartek.konecko@uj.edu.pl)

The call is open from 19 February to 31 March 2021. The proposals should be drawn up in English and submitted solely electronically by means of an entry form available at https://strefaid.uj.edu.pl/Konkurs?kod=f3c179aa-5088-47fc-b713-a0a6deed7f78

The call’s results will be announced on the Anthropocene PRA website by the end of July 2021.
