Repair of the Microbet counter at the Chair of Pharmacobiology JU MC
Research conducted in the Chair of Pharmacobiology is focused on a comprehensive assessment of the interaction of new molecules with biological targets. The aim is to search for new biologically active substances in various therapeutic areas, mainly in the field of central nervous system disorders. Another major research area is the search and identification of new therapeutic targets in in vitro and ex vivo models by analysing their significance and function. These studies will enable the recognition of pathomechanisms and analysis of molecular basis of various diseases and facilitate the understanding of physiological processes at the cellular level.
Thanks to participation in the Call#11 of the qLIFE PRA programme, the Chair of Pharmacobiology, Jagiellonian University MC, gained the possibility of financing the service and modernization of the Microbeta TriLux 1450 scintillation counter, in which the FFD 1.44 drives were replaced with Solid State Emulators.
The scintillation counter is used in isotopic studies, in radioligand binding assays to membrane and intracellular proteins, as an essential tool for performing preliminary affinity assessments of new molecules for various biological targets. The instrument is a key element used in practically all scientific and research projects carried out at the Unit, including research tasks carried out in cooperation with other units of Jagiellonian University and non-departmental units, e.g. Cracow University of Technology, Medical University of Warsaw and University of Lublin.
Service of the instrument was made with funding from the qLIFE Priority Research Area within the framework of the Strategic Programme “Excellence Initiative” at Jagiellonian University.
